4. Preparing for Printing

Drying: PET materials are sensitive to moisture, which can affect the performance during printing and the quality of the final product. Ensure the material is dried.

Siraya Tech PET-CF (and all of our filaments) are dried before being sealed in an aluminum bag, which protects them from moisture for up to 3 years. It can be use directly without drying. It's recommended to dry at 90°C for 4-6 hours. Only dry if filament shows signs of moisture.

Bed Temperature: Recommended bed temperatures range from 70°C to 90°C to
help the first layer adhere better.

First Layer Settings: The first layer is critical for a successful print. Ensure the bed is level and the first layer print speed is slightly reduced to enhance adhesion.

6. Moisture Management

Sealed Packaging: When not in use, store PET material in a sealed aluminum foil bag to prevent moisture ingress.

Use Desiccants: Include desiccants during storage to absorb any potential moisture, keeping the material dry.

Avoid Direct Sunlight and High Temperatures: Store PET materials in an environment that avoids direct sunlight and high temperatures to prevent material degradation.

Temperature Control: It's best to store PET materials at room temperature; both overheating and excessive cooling can affect the printing performance and quality of the material.

7. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Stringing: If you notice stringing between parts of your print, reduce the printing temperature by 5-10 degrees. Also, adjust the retraction settings—increase retraction distance and speed to pull the filament effectively away from the nozzle during travel moves.

Moisture Problems: If the filament has absorbed moisture, which can caus opping sounds and poor surface quality, dry the filament. Use an oven set at 100-120°C for 4-6 hours. Store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccants to prevent reabsorption of moisture.

8. Annealing

Siraya Tech PET-CF is a robust engineering filament that can be used right off the
spool without annealing.

However, if you need to enhance its hardness, consider annealing it at 90-100°C for 4-6 hours. Be mindful of potential shrinkage during the annealing process.
