1. Compatibility

Support PET is tailor-made for 3D printers capable of stably printing high-temperature filaments.

Hardware Compatibility

  • Dual printhead systems
  • Independent Dual Extruders (IDEX)
  • 2-in/1-out FDM systems

Material Compatibility

Perfectly compatible as a support material (with or without carbon and glass fiber reinforcement) for:

  • PET
  • ABS
  • ASA
  • PPS
  • TPU
  • PA12 Nylon (Not PA6 or PPA)

2. Material Properties (TDS)

(Note: Values rounded to the nearest integer where applicable, excluding percentages).

Property Standard Typical Value
Density ISO 1183 1.15 g/cmΒ³
Water Absorption ISO 62: Method 1 0.4%
Melting Temperature ISO 11357 168Β°C

3. Recommended Printing Conditions

To achieve optimal adhesion and print quality, start with these baseline settings and adjust based on your specific printer and environment.

Parameter Recommended Setting
Nozzle Temperature 260-280Β°C
Build Plate Temperature 70-90Β°C
Print Speed 30-120 mm/s
Cooling Fan OFF
Retraction Distance 0.6-2 mm
Retraction Speed 1800-3600 mm/min
Nozzle
0.4-1.0mm. Hardened steel nozzles (or higher grade wear-resistant nozzles) are recommended, alongside a heating block thickness of at least 12mm.
Build Surface (Adhesive)
Proper bed preparation is crucial to prevent warping. We strongly recommend coating your build plate with Siraya Tech Grip for optimal first-layer adhesion. PVP solid glue may also be used as an alternative.

4. Recommended Support Settings (Slicer)

Configuring your slicer correctly is critical for easy support removal and clean surfaces.

Parameter Recommended Setting
Support Infill 15%-20% infill ratio
Dense Support Layers 3-5
Top and Bottom Z-Distance (Vertical Offset) 0 mm
Horizontal/XY Distance 0.3-0.6 mm
Support Wall Loops/Outlines 0-1
Raft Separation Distance 0 mm

5. Handling and Usage Guidelines

Moisture Management (Critical)

Support PET readily absorbs moisture from the air. Damp filament will cause oozing, bubbling, and rough surface extrusion, which can lead to print failures or difficult support removal.

Storage: Store the filament in a dry box with humidity below 15% immediately after opening. When not in use, reseal it in its original foil bag with desiccant.

Drying: If the material absorbs moisture, restore it by drying in a filament oven or dehydrator at 80-100Β°C for 4-6 hours before printing.

Bed Adhesion

Achieving a solid first layer is vital for successful dual-extrusion prints. Always apply an even layer of Siraya Tech Grip to your build surface prior to printing. This ensures both the main material and the Support PET anchor securely to the bed throughout the duration of the print.

Post-Processing and Annealing

Removal: Wait for the print to cool completely before removing the support material. It should peel away manually like tearing paper.

Annealing: If the main body material (like ABS or PET) requires annealing for strength, leave the Support PET attached during the thermal treatment. It will act as a physical scaffold, minimizing shrinkage and dimensional deformation. Remove the support only after the part has fully cooled.
