Printing Tips for Best Results

Printing matte flexible filament is easier than you think, but it requires a few tweaks.

1. Dry Your Filament: TPU absorbs moisture like a sponge. Always dry your spool at 70°C for at least 4 hours before printing to prevent popping and stringing.
2. Use Direct Drive: While bowden setups can work, a direct drive extruder gives you better control over retractions.
3. No Fan for Layer Adhesion: For maximum strength and heat resistance, turn the cooling fan down or off. This allows layers to bond fully, creating a watertight and tear-resistant part.

How do I get a matte finish on TPU prints?

The easiest way is to use a foaming TPU like Siraya Tech Roamr. The foaming action naturally creates a matte, textured surface. Alternatively, you can use "Fuzzy Skin" settings in your slicer, but this increases print time.

Is matte TPU weaker than glossy TPU?

No. Our Roamr matte TPU maintains excellent structural integrity. In fact, it offers high rebound (up to 50% energy return), making it durable enough for functional footwear and athletic gear.

Do I need a special nozzle for matte TPU?

No. You can print Siraya Tech matte TPU with a standard 0.4mm brass nozzle. However, because the material foams and expands, you may need to adjust your flow rate (extrusion multiplier) down to 60-70% depending on your temperature.

Can I use matte TPU for 3D printed shoes?
