What filaments are flexible?

Flexible filaments include TPU, TPE, and PEBA. These materials are designed to stretch and bend without breaking, making them useful for wearables, seals, and shock-absorbing parts. Their elasticity depends on hardness levels, usually measured in Shore A or D.

Is PLA or PETG flexible?

PLA and PETG are not considered flexible filaments. PLA is rigid and brittle, while PETG is tougher and slightly more impact-resistant but still not truly flexible. Neither can match the stretch and rebound of TPU or PEBA.

Can flexible filament be used on any printer?

Not all printers can handle flexible filament. Direct drive extruders are best because they shorten the path between the gears and nozzle, reducing jams. Bowden setups can work with tuning, but they often struggle with very soft materials.
